SYNOPSIS
In 1983, an avant-garde filmmaker from Poland accepted the Academy Award for Tango—an unprecedented 8-minute masterpiece created using 16,000 hand-painted cell mattes—and was arrested outside the venue fifteen minutes later. That artist was Zbigniew "Zbig" Rybczyński.
Featuring exclusive insider access, rare archival footage, and candid interviews with major world directors, DPs, and fashion creatives (from Francis Ford Coppola to Yorgos Lanthimos and Gaspar Noé, to the Creative Director of Balenciaga), the film traces how Zbig’s radical engineering laid the hidden DNA for modern visual culture.

In the 1980s, he took over New York and MTV, pioneering HDTV, inventing precursor techniques to "Bullet Time" (Midnight Mover), and building real-time motion-control studios (Imagine, Steps, The Orchestra).
